AWESOME! Lostprophets are definitely back! And 2012 is going to be their year, no doubt what so ever! The guys are kicking ass with the new music at the moment, and if Weapons is going to be like this, then crap, it is going to be one bloody AMAZING album! Proud of Lostprophets! Love you guys and thank you for EVERYTHING you guys have EVER done! Xxx Ellie Douglas
Too good for words, can’t even express how awesome it is without getting excited. Weapons is going to be one amazing album, hopefully the best yet and you guys will RAPE the Kerrang! awards! Bring Em Down is a classic example of what rock music is missing, what it needs actually. Can’t wait for weapons and most of all, can’t wait to see you guys in april, ARGH I CAN’T WAIT MUCH LONGER! Chloe Lps Grigg
Hearing Bring Em Down live in August was wonderful, but hearing the studio version has really done it justice. It’s shown the new direction the guys are going in, and it’s very educational when learning how to count

TotalVivid says:
Perhaps the most shocking thing about new Lostprophets single Better Off Dead is how much it doesn’t sound like the Lostprophets. From the saw-cutter mid-track guitar solo and the guttural gang-worker chants, it’s like a beast emerged from long hibernation to find a world profoundly changed in its absence. Compare it to the glossy hook-laden singles from Start Something and Liberation Transmission and there seems little in common linking the two eras.
But in a way, this works to the favor of the band’s new efforts – times have changed in the past five years and the charts, on the whole, feel far less receptive to rock than they did back then. A new wave of band’s have leapt up from the ground – your Kids in Glass Houses’ and You Me Six’s – and Lostprophets stand with a dilemma of how to remain relevant in a drastically changed musical world.
Previous album The Betrayed felt like a testy adolescent, trying to get used to this world, fighting and clawing at the walls of its room in an attempt to become accustomed to it. Its lasting impressions – something half-formed and halfway there to recapturing the band’s past glories.
Luckily, new single Better Off Dead feels far more like a move in the right direction – it’s heavier, meatier, weightier – a more metallic Lostprophets, re-envisioned and re-vitalised for a new decade. Yes, it lacks the overt pop hooks of earlier material, but it packs a hell of a lot more punch. Plus, the fact it’s offered as a free download definitely sweetens the deal.
Better Off Dead is the first single to be taken from new album Weapons, released on the 1st April.
Chemical Magazine says:
It took nearly 4 years to release The Betrayed. That’s 4 years of Lostprophets fans waiting in anticipation for their next album. Thankfully, it hasn’t taken them quite as long to release, what seems to be only, a small taster of their next album. Their single Bring Em Down, even though it isn’t studio released yet, it’s nothing short of outstanding.
Let’s break this little number down, shall we? First, the guitars. The heavy riffs just echo through out your ears. As it makes its mark on the track, the drums come in behind, playing a relentless, repetitive rhythm, making it so much more easier to jump to this track. The synthesizers add an extra element to the intro, showing their earliest fans that they still haven’t lost touch with their ‘thefakesoundofprogress’ roots and pretty soon, the vocals kick in. Ian’s voice is nothing short of raw, he has tonnes of unprecedented energy that spreads itself into the rest of the song. When it finally kicks in, it’s almost impossible to not, as parents say, ‘rock out.’
Listening to the lyrics of this song, all I can think is ‘dark and brooding, dark and brooding, dark and brooding.’ I liked The Betrayed. It was a good change for them to not stick with the bubblegum pop-punk Liberation Transmission. But this song just sounds so angry. Which begs the question.. what’s pissed these guys off? Whatever it is, it’s created an epic song, one that Lostprophets fans everywhere should listen to and (hopefully) enjoy. After all, it is merely a taste of what is yet to come from these Welsh wonders.

Better Off Dead (Thanks to Abigail and Rihannon)
I wanna talk about a sound, a voice, a freedom, rejoice.
I can’t stay silent while you take away our choice.
The guns, the armour, the gossip, the drama.
The innocent, guilty, we’re all free of karma
The nation, the rules, the patient, the fools,
The picket lines inside, to close down schools,
A chance we take, the path we tread,
You can’t cry ‘freedom’, when you’re standing on the dead,
Nobody puts the enemy, I only wanna get free,
Battered out of hatred, jealousy, envy,
The liars, the fakes, the funerals, the wakes,
The life we live, you give, it takes,
The stones we cast, the future, the past,
The laws we break, too slow, too fast,
The highs, the lows, we fell, we rose,
The happiness we hold, to come
and we go…

#Weapons is in the list of the most rock anticipated albums of 2012!
Live and Loud Rock says:
Pontypridd rockers Lostphophets have announced the follow-up to 2010′s The Betrayed will be called Weapons and is scheduled to be released on April 2nd through Epic Records. Lead single Better Off Dead is available to download for free from the band’s Facebook profile. The album will be produced by LA producer Ken Andrews, who when questioned about the upcoming album said “They had a big hit here is the states in 2004 with the song ‘Last Train Home‘ from the album ‘Start Something’ which sold just shy of a million copies. They have been relatively quiet here since, but that’s all about to change.” A bold statement indeed, and only time will tell if Weapons can live up to the hype.
